LUSH sweetie pie shower jelly review

I'm coming to the end of a brief affair with my shower jelly and I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. I will be sad to see it gone when the party finally comes to an end.

I received this shower jelly as a birthday present from my brother. A bit of a coincidence really considering this product was invented for Lush's 10th birthday 'because all the best parties have jelly.' It says on the tub that ' if a bar and a bottle of shower gel had a steamy affair, this would be the resulting jelly, baby' and after that I was immediately Intrigued to try this product.

To start with the smell is just divine- probably the best smelling LUSH product I have tried so far. It says that the scent is a mix of cherries and coconuts, but I would say it smells more black currantish.

The product lathers up nicely, just like a shower gel, but leaves you smelling sweeter.
The only negative point is that it can be quite hard to lose hold of- I find myself chasing it around the shower sometimes!

Overall a great product, that I definitely will be repurchasing, so the party can go on and on...

I hope you're all well,
Jodie xxxx

Delicious Strudel

So today I made a tasty strudel out of some left over puff pastry that I had in the fridge. Strudels are really easy to make and don't take much time at all if you use ready made shop bought puff pastry (such as:
 Jus roll puff pastry).
However, If you want to make your own pastry, then here is a quick and easy recipe http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2403/roughpuff-pastry-

You will also need some fruit and granulated sugar.
-Firstly, grease a baking tray and set your oven to 180 degrees.
-Roll out your pastry to fill the whole tray
-Cut off any uneven edges with a knife.
-Line your fruit vertically down one half of the pastry and use a tablespoon to coat the fruit in lots of sugar (about 4 tbsp of sugar )
-Fold over the other side of the pastry and seal and glaze the edges with milk
-Sprinkle lots of granulated sugar on to of the strudel
-Place your strudel in the oven for around 30 minutes
- Finally, cut your strudel into portions and serve your strudel with either cream or ice cream.
-Enjoy!

I hope you liked this post,

OOTD- Porcelain doll

So, today I was asked to dress up as a porcelain doll to have some photos taken. I had always loved porcelain dolls as a child, so that was the type of doll I chose to be. For the makeup: I made my foundation really pale by mixing it with talcum powder, I defined my cheeks with a fuchsia pink blush and I finished my look with a hot pink lipstick. I really enjoyed having the photos done and it was a fun challenge to recreate the doll look.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower Book Review

Recently my lovely friend Jordan ( <<<<check out her blog here) lent me The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, as I had been wanting to read it since I watched the film.

The book is about a boy called Charlie who is an outsider, who is caught beetween living life and running from it. He isn't popular, but he isn't a nerd either. He makes friends with Sam and Patrick who he shares a love of music and mixtapes with, and they are also outsiders. They introduce charlie to many new things: Parties, Drugs and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This book is written as a series of letters to an anonymous recipient, who we never find the identity of. He writes about school and his love of books. Charlie himself is a bit of mystery. He has mental issues, gets angry, sees things and then passes out.
Charlie has had a troubled childhood, with his aunt and he blames himself for what happened.

This was a really great book which I thouroughly enjoyed to read. Stephen Chbosky has managed to make me feel so emotionally attatched to a character and that has never really happened with other books. I 110% reccomend this book, especially if you are a teenager, and also the movie is great too.

A Trip To The Harry Potter Studios

Recently I visited the Harry potter studios and here is a blog which I wrote the day after.

So, It was the day of my fifteenth birthday and as part of the celebrations, my parents had booked to take the family to the Warner Bros Studios near London. After a rushed one and a half hour journey to get to the studios on time, we later found out that we actually had more than half an hour after our allocated time to sit  and have a cup of coffee (which was rather nice actually). After a sit down, we went to go and line up ready for our tour. The line was humongous and we must have patiently waited for at least half an hour before going in. It wasn't great organisation on the staffs side of things.

Firstly we entered a small room with TV screens lined either side. The tour guide explained about how the tour takes around 3 hours on average and that we could go at our own pace.
Secondly, We entered a large cinema room where a short film was played about the magic of Harry Potter. Suddenly the screen lifted and behind was a big dramatic set of doors. As it was my birthday, I got to help to push the doors open. Behind was the great Hogwarts hall- how magnificent?

I am not going to reveal much more, as I don't want to spoil the magic if you do go yourself, but I do want to say that it was amazingly magical. Even if you are not a big fan of Harry Potter, you are sure to enjoy your day. I am going to mention the fact that on your magical journey you have a chance to ride upon a broomstick and ride in a flying car. Also, during the day you have an opportunity to try the famous butter beer (which is only sold at 2 places in the world). I am not going to lie it is possibly the sickliest thing I have ever tasted, but still very nice in small sips.

At the end of the tour you are lead into the gift shop which is extremely overpriced, but I still bought some things. I bought: The first harry potter book, as I have been wanting to read it for ages £6.99; A grifindor pin badge £7.99 and a huge multicolour lollipop to eat on the way home £3.99

Overall I had a really great day and I extremely thankful to my parents for booking it. I would recommend it to any people who like Harry Potter, you are ensured a truly magical day!

Lots of  Love,

Jodie xxx

Goodreads?

As many of my friends know I am a HUGE fan of reading. That's why I joined Goodreads. Goodreads is a website where you can check out reviews on what your friends and other people have been reading, as well as tracking and reviewing what books you've read. It's great to know whats new and  popular in the bookosphere.  I've had my goodreads account for just under a year now and so far I've read 24 books, after a certain amount of books goodreads will start to give you recommendations of books you'd like , based on how you've rated books in the past. Its a great website and goodreads has so many other great features to offer. If you enjoy reading or would like to read more, I suggest you give goodreads a try. You wont be disappointed.

Lets be friends? My Goodreads name is: Jodie Hemsill and I'm sure to accept you if you drop me a request.

Happy Reading

February 1st OOTD- Rock chick

So today I thought i'd  bring in the new month and go a bit out there. This look is kinda a biker/ rock chick sort of look. I'm wearing leather look leggings ( primark £8) , with a leather look jacket (charity shop £4), with a grey rock style top ( H&M £15) and a killer red lipstick. This is a great statement look which I've managed to put together for under £30. I've been loving this  look so much lately and it suits so many people. Try it out and you may just surprise yourself. I can't wait to see what February brings!

Change the world Online

Today I just thought I'd post something a little bit different to what I normally post about, but I think it may be slightly more meaningful.

A lot of people seem to turn their backs to this fact, but believe it or not our planet is dying. Not just the people and animals, but everything. Don't you just want to change that? I know I do.

People moan about not having enough time to campaign about the issues they care about, but it can all be done online. A couple of minutes is all it takes. Instead of endlessly browsing through other people's lives on Facebook  make a difference. Save the Arctic.  Prevent the use of nuclear weapons. Help countries Find peace. It's honestly up to you, the opportunities are endless!

You may be one person, but if we all work together, we can be great stewards of this earth and protect it for generations to come.

Here are a few websites that have links to online campaigns and petitions and you too could help save the world.
